Hello, everyone - Our Comedy Shorts nights have proven so popular with
turn-away crowds (which we hate doing) that you now have three options
to get tickets and not get disappointed at the door.
1) stop by our museum on Saturday between 12-4 pm and get them (you
can also get a tour on Sats & Suns)
2) call in to our "box office" between 12-4 pm on Sat and give us your
contact info and credit card info. so we can process your payment.
3) go to www.nilesfilmmuseum.org and pay for tickets thru Paypal - we
are charging the cost of that service back to you but for a $5 movie
ticket it is only 50c more - such a deal! (We are having the option
for Paypal only for comedy shorts nights, becoming a member, purchases
through our on-line store and special events - all other regular Sat
night show tickets can be obtained through methods #1 or #2.
p.s. If you are going to get tickets for Wings which we are showing on
Sat, May 16 [2 showings - noon (Dr. Frederick Hodges on Piano) and
7:30 pm (Jon Mirsalis on synthesizer) and WILLIAM WELLMAN Jr. and
OSCAR-WINNING sound effects wizard BEN BURTT on hand for the movies
and a symposium} they are available at our website through PayPal -
there are a variety of prices depending if you are a member or not so
take a look - as we have a small theater all seats are at a premium
but we still did our best to keep the ticket price within reason on
this fundraiser for our non-profit museum.
And be on the lookout in June as we are having some awesome movie
presentations coming up with more Oscar and Emmy winning directors on
hand:
in addition to Charlie Chaplin Days (1st weekend) and the annual
Broncho Billy Silent Film Festival (the last weekend - this year's
theme is Early Independent Film Companies); we will also be showing
Weekend King, the independent movie making the rounds at film
festivals right now, that was shot in Niles (it doubled for a bankrupt
town in Utah); and retrospectives from local and legendary directors:
John Korty (only film maker in America who has won major awards in
documentaries, animation and features - he is the man who convinced
Lucas and Coppola to "set up shop" in the Bay Area. We also have an
evening with well-known local documentarian, Les Blank. At the end of
2004 'Garlic is as good as 10 mothers' was one of 25 films that year,
selected by The Library Of Congress, to be added to the National Film
Registry list of now 400 motion pictures, to be preserved in
perpetuity. Other films in this group include Ben Hur, Jail House Rock
and Duck And Cover.
